I moved to California on a whim in January of 2005 with high hopes of working as a documentary videographer. I spent a lot of time in odd stage jobs and editing but through most of it I craved shooting. My boyfriend at the time drove a small, beat-to-hell Prism that he never locked, the car was occasionally opened and rifled through though we kept nothing important in it. One day after work he presented me with a perfect Canon AE-1 someone had left in the backseat. I'm sure a wouldbe was caught mid-theft and left part of the evening's rewards in our car, but I'd like to think it was some anarchist group that leaves art supplies around for awesome people who need them.
I tried to find the camera's rightful owner through Craigslist without success, then I started using it. First as an experiment, then as a hobby. In video and especially in documentary, I enjoy the pressure of getting the right shot, being prepared for a moment, thinking on your feet. But still photography allows for a pause, gives you time to find things in your viewfinder you never would have noticed until later.
I still shoot with the Canon but have since purchased my first DSLR (also Canon). I enjoy documentary photography, especially polital events. I also do bands and promo and occasionaly landscapes. I don't sell my photos for very much money but I'll be paying off the new camera for awhile so if you like what you see, order a few pics and feel free to leave some comments, cheers and thanks!
